This oven, which has always worked perfectly, suddenly developed
a heating problem last night. Range and broiler work fine but the
oven won't heat up beyond 200 or so, if that. Don't know if this is the heating element, thermostat or what. Any suggestions? THANKS!!!

The model number you posted does not come up. Is it American model? Verify and repost it.

Thank you. This time it looks much better:) . Pull the range out of the wall, remove the rear panel and check the wires to the Bake heating element. If there is nothing wrong then remove the wires from the Bake heating element and check the element for continuity. Replace the heating element if it's open. If there is nothing wrong then the problem is a bad control board. - The part number for the Bake element is AP2031067 - The part number for the control board is AP2632445Here are the break down diagrams for the GE range Model JBP26BY5Gene.

Even more, I appreciate your
time and generosity. I've been unemployed for some time
now. Formerly, I would have thought nothing of calling
a repair man. Now, that's strictly a last-ditch option.

I tried both the bake element and the control element. The
problem wasn't the bake element so I assume it's the control
element. I ordered that part from the link you sent and while it looks ALMOST identical, the connections in the back are not exactly the same. In particular, I have a connection that sends four red wires to the surface burner controls on the old one but can't find a corresponding place on the new part. Also, the instructions (such as they are) for the new part indicate a "Line Voltage (black)" connection, which is not visibly present on the old part. It also refers to a "Purple Broil Wire". I have a blue wire but not purple!
Some of the conectors on the new panel are differently located form the old one, too, so it isn't clear which is which.
The part I received was TEGA 2083290182. Any thoughts? I really cannot afford a serviceman at this point but gotta have my oven working. THANKS!

This control board controls only the oven functions and has nothing to do with the surface burners. 2. The black wire on all appliances should be a "Line voltage". The wire to the Broil element could be a different color. You have to trace it from the element. 3. All terminals on the old and new boards should be marked and you have to reconnect them according to these marks. If you can post the pictures of both control boards, the range wiring diagram and the installation instructions it might help better. Gene.
