Out of the blue my oven has stopped functioning properly. Everything appears to work however the oven never heats up. The elements are cold yet the display says 350 deg. I tried the custom broil, bake and convection functions all with the same results. I doubt its the elements. The last thing we did to the oven was preformed the self-cleaning function on it. That worked but afterwards nothing appears to work.

Need help. Trying to locate the problem and fix it myself without calling a repair person over the holidays.

Hi,

Our electric Whirlpool oven is doing the same thing. Have you found an answer yet?

No answer yet, but will try to post if I fix it own my own. I'm thinking their my be an internal fuse that has blown.

Could be either a bad oven sensor or defective control board.
Whirpool also has a thermal fuse that can blow.
Check thermal fuse first. Then oven sensor. Then control board.

Do you know where the thermal fuse is located?

Where would I find the thermal fuse? That would be my first guess as well but none of the documentation that I have for the oven shows where it is. Thanks for you help.

I just removed my oven control panel and found the Technician Service manual. It clearly shows the thermal overload fuse being in the circuit with the bake and broil elements. I don't have an ohmmeter currently at home to test the fuse/switch but I believe that is the problem. Will check tomorrow evening and let you know. Meanwhile can you tell me if I can just purchase the thermal fuse and how much it costs?

Checked fuse and appears to be faulty (open circuit). Will order one tonight and replace it when it arrives. I'll let you know if it works.

I replaced the faulty thermal fuse tonight but it did not change the symptoms/problem. Everything is still acting the same. The oven control board acts as if the oven is heating up (in preheat mode) but not heat is generated. The elements still remain off.

You said earlier to check thermal fuse, then oven sensor then control board. I assume the oven sensor is the oven temp sensor mounted inside the oven on the rear wall. According to the tech notes I should read about 1080ohms across it. Of course I don't have my meter tonight. Will check tomorrow and let you know.

Any other words of advice would be appreciated.
