When the washer stops after part of a cycle, it does not start up again automatically. You have to move the wash cycle dial by hand to get the machine to continue in the cycle. The lid switch seems to be working. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Try changing out the timer, it is an inexpensive part (for a timer).
