I placed my clothes in the dryer and went back to get them they were not dry and the dryer was still running with no heat.

the first thing to check is the fuses or breakers to make sure there,s 240 volts going to the dryer..

sounds like a fuse or breaker there are two fuses or breakers .One will run the motor the other one the heat , if this dryer is not an appartment size dryer[small unit] then check both fuses/breakers..
