Switch on my Kenmore washer is failing. Located on the top right hand corner of the top. The switch starts and stops the washer after it has filled with water. I can reach under the edge of the top and feel it is loose and corroded. How do I access it to replace it? Does the top come up like on my dryer or do I have to dismantle the entire washer cabinet?

On each end of the control panel is a cover that snaps off revealing a screw that holds the control panel to the top. Loosen the screws until the panel slides forward and can be rotated toward the back. Under the panel are two brass colored clips that can be removed using a flat blade screwdriver. Once the clips are removed, the entire cabinet can be pulled of the base by tilting it forward. You should then be able to get to the switch.
