my Bosch SHU531 model is stuck sounding as though its running. I believe its the outflow pump. It wont restart or reset etall. LED indicates an "F" code. Dont know what that means. Do I replace the control mechanism? Pumps water out but nothing comes in....is that because its stuck in pump out mode? or could the water inlet censor be out? How do i test reset any of these possibilities? Would like to fix this thing if its is fiscally reasonable because it has worked and cleaned my dishes well over the years. Some of the parts appear not to be returnable if i plug them in etc........ Help. A new one runs about $550 right now w/o some of the features I never use....

The first thing I would do is remove the toe panel and check if there is water in the base. The "F" code will disappear by itself after the problem fixed and the dishwasher will run for 15 minutes.

I have the same F error and there is no water in the base. Any other suggestions? In addition, my problem began with long cycles and the timer not counting down in a regular manner.

The first failure suspect is a bad control module (#1 on the diagram)

Also I would recommend to use the troubleshooting manual from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...troubleshoot-manual.html

- The part number for the control module is AP2802870

Here are the break down diagrams and the parts list for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHI6805 UC/06

Gene,

When I ran the test program I got an error message 5. Do you still think it is a control module or something else. I still get the the F fault when running a regular cycle.

Steve

P.S. I ran the test program again and I got an error code of 4. Also, I can't skip through the cycles during the test program.

The "F" error code means "water filling fault" which is not limited to the water in the base. It could be also underfill or overfill. The test program error code "4" has exactly same meaning. The problem could be a bad water inlet valve (more likely), a bad water level switch (less likely) or a bad control module (very small possibility). I did mention the control module in the first reply just because you wrote: "the timer not counting down in a regular manner". I did not find the "5" error code.

You have to check the water inlet valve, the pressure in the water line and the water level system.
