Very recently our washer (part of a Frigidaire laundry center) has been leaking some kind of oil onto clothes, leaving greasy dark brown streaks and spots. I just washed a small load of white rags (with no soap added to the load) and in addition to getting the streaks and spots on the rags themselves, I can see and feel some dark brown greasy residue on both the very bottom of the tub and at the water line.
A call to one repair shop indicated that this is probably related to the transmission and likely not fixable for an amount that is much less than what it would cost to replace the unit (though they did not ask what brand or model we have) and probably not under warranty considering the age of the washer (about 8-9 years). Do you concur?
