Here are your parts

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Here is a manual
Replacement parts for Maytag MDE6700AYW DRYER- ELE | AppliancePartsPros.com
You have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and this is a very good site for manuals and other info for the appliance repair DIYer.

When you checked the power did you only check for the 220 volts or did you also check for 120 volts between L1 and Neutral. This is what powers the control board. Sometimes you cxan loose Neutral without tripping the breaker.
File Attachment(s):
MDE6700.pdf (514kb) downloaded 60 time(s).

thx for the response but I did check to see if I had 120 v on line 1 and 2 as well as 240v...also had a new cord and installed that with no result.
I am guessing it is the main circuit board..but is there a way to be sure? It costs $180 dollars and would like to be relatively sure before ordering.

You said no lights work, did this include the interior light?
It uses the same side of the line as the control board.

There is no power to anything except to the terminals on the back where the cord is attached...no lights ...no readouts...no digital screen therefore no error codes.....nothin...dead in the water..120v to eacfh side and 240v across L1 and L2...

It sounds like you are not getting power to the control board.
I would start by checking out the door switch (interior light circuit)

Unplug the unit and the door switch and then check it with a meter using ohms.

If OK then you will have to do a live check.
With one meter lead on Neutral you should have 120 volts at the Common on the switch.
Also 120 at the NC (Normally Closed) connector with the door open.

There is power to the control board. I checked the power where it is connected there is power [120v] where it plugs into the control board. This unit does not have nor ever did have an interior light.

Looking at my earlier post I did not include the manual so here it is
http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=69

Since the control board is getting power you should see some signs of life.

I would try the following and if that does nothing then I would replace the control board.
It is a bit of a crap shoot but it is the most likely cause.

Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.
