I replaced the control/display board and can't seem to get the ribbon cable from the touch panel to the board reconnected properly. The touch panel worked before I changed the control board. Is there a trick to this?

Not any trick that I know of. What is your problem.
Perhaps the following will help.
Cannot get the cable in: Do not force it in. You may kink the ribbon cable. This may may put a hairline crack across one or more of the cable's tracks.
Small cable best to hold in the center (thumb and forefinger), close to the end and push in. Larger cables hold on each side and push in. Cable should push in straight. Not one side then the other.
Some cables are a little undersized in width so you have to line up the pins in the connector with the cable tracks and the push straight in. If you cannot see the pins when trying to get the cable in, mark the plug with a fine tip felt pen so you know where they are when trying to install the cable. Only mark one or two. If it goes in but does not work try the following: RIBBON CABLE CLEANING Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |

Thanks for the quick response. I tried cleaning the ribbon but it still doesn't work. I may have inadvertantly damaged the cable. After restoring power to the oven, it appears to go through a cycle and then the display shows PF and 12:00. The keypad does not work. After depressing either of the oven off buttons, I get an F2 E1 code. Prior to replacing the control board, the display was blank but I got beeps when depressing buttons aand the light button worked. Now nothing works. Should I just go ahead and change the keypad now? Thanks again.
