My wife was washing/drying clothes the other day without issue - until her last load, when the dryer stopped working. She hadn't noticed any issues prior to that. Pretty much, when you go to turn on the dryer, nothing happens - it is as if it is unplugged, when it isn't. ---- Yesterday, I suddenly had this idea to try an experiment; she hadn't tried to turn on the washer since she noticed the dryer wouldn't turn on. Well, lo and behold, the washer wouldn't turn on either (they are on the same GFCI outlet). So, I had her unplug the dryer. I hit the reset button on the outlet, and viola! The washer started working again. Had her plug in the dryer. Again, wouldn't work - and the washer wouldn't work either. Reset the outlet again, washer worked; dryer wouldn't. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. After a few rounds of this, I decided we could probably stop wasting our time :) Any ideas on possible cause? I think the dryer is either dead (though I would think we would have seen signs of a dying dryer) or something internal is going on. I don't think it is the breaker or the outlet itself since a reset does allow for the washer to work. Seems like something within the dryer is tripping the outlet, but what that is, I have no idea. I have a call in with a dryer repair guy who I do trust; still, regardless of the trust, I still like to have some knowledge myself of what may be going on! Thanks in advance!
