My GE washer developed a slight shake during the spin cycles, and then suddenly quit spinning or agitating. It still fills and empties fine, and the timer progresses through cycles properly. However, the motor never comes on. I removed the front panel and saw the LED signalling 6-Locked Rotor - make sure system is free. When I removed the basked I saw that both the split ring and the bottum of the hub had been grinding together and are at least 1/4" deeper than they started. My assumption is that the hub nut was loose on delivery and allowed the basket enough play to wear this away. I reset the inverter and the board indicated normal standby. However, when I attempted to run a complete cycle the Locked Rotor code started as soon as it reached where it should have started to agitate. BUT the motor never moved at all, even though all the parts seem to move freely. I suspect either the motor or the clutch is shot, but wanted to see if anyone with more experience than I had a better idea??
Thanks - Robert

Only if the motor does not operate after 3 tries, LED blinks 6 times. If it does it without any motor movements then the motor has gone bad. - The part number for the motor is AP4368119Gene.

Thank you Gene. I'm guessing that the basket bounced around and finally settled low enough to bind up the motor. Do you think that it is worth finding a small motor repair shop and seeing if they can repair the motor, or would you just go ahead and replace it?
