We have a Thermador Cook N Vent UCV30AS (purchased in 2006) which works in all respects except we are having a problem with the gasket at the base of the snorkel. When raising the snorkel, the gray gasket becomes disengaged and gets pushed out. This happens on the left side in particular. I then need to work the gasket back into place which is quite a task.
Is there any known solution to this problem.
Thank you.

I posted this solution on fixya.com but I'll summarize it here. I have a Thermadoor cooktop mounted in front of the vent unit. I pulled out the old gray gasket and replaced it with a piece of Q-Lon door weatherstrip (try Home Depot ,etc., or it can be found at Amazon.) Loosen the screws under the cooktop that hold it down and slide the weatherstrip mounting flange under the cooktop and tighten the screws. You may have to give the snorkel a push to get it to go down since the weatherstrip pushes on it and there is a sensor that stops the snorkel if there is binding. I don't find this to be a problem and with time and some lubrication on the vent it may work without help. Contact me if you have any questions. jon@harrison.netI have a 36" wide vent and I cut the weatherstrip 32 3/4" long Jon
