Hi there,

We are having some trouble with our Bosch dishwasher (Model SHX46B05UC). It is about 6 years old and has operated without issue until the past week or so. Over the last week, the run times have been getting longer most of the time running more than 3.5 hours at times before we interrupted them. Tonight I am hand-washing the dishes as the dishwasher has not switched out of the wash cycle an the dishwasher is full of foam.

I have read numerous posting online that identify a few different possible solutions, but before I purchasing anything I was hoping to narrow this down. The three things I have seen listed were a water temp sensor, turbidity sensor, and the control board.

Seeing as I have had the repair guy out for our refrigerator and clothes washer (twice and its not even a year old yet) I would like to try to complete the repair myself.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've done some additional research and am now wondering if this could be a bad water heater? Our dishes have been wet at the end of the sanitize cycle for as long as I can remember. It is also now winter and with the colder temps maybe the water isn't as hot as it reaches the dishwasher?

Anyone have any thoughts???

Thank you,
Paul

Last night I found a video that showed how to clear the pump impeller and clean out the basin. As many others had, I found broken glass and food stuff within, but no apparent jam as the culprit to my problem.

After reassembly, I placed a bowl with 2 cups of white vinegar into the machine (as Bosch recommended to clean sensors), added water to the basin (since it was stuck in a cycle), closed it up and let it run. Two hours later it did complete the wash.

I opted to load up dishes once again, run the hot water to the point that it would scald, and started a normal cycle. After more than two hours, I opened up the machine to fine the water somewhere between warm and hot. I closed up the machine and after 3.5 hours of run time, I went to bed. The load was complete in the morning. Dishes clean, but wet.

This is looking more and more like a heater to me. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Thank you,
Paul
