Hi, My Kenmore Coldspot side by side refrigerator is no longer cooling. Manufacture date 1999.
The light is on and the fan running. Here is what happens when i turn it on :-
- the fan starts and runs ok - after a few seconds I hear a click from the relay - the condenser body starts to get warm - over the course of 3 minutes the relay clicks 3-4 more times. On each click the tone of the fan changed slightly.
Leading up this failure, over the past month we have had to adjust the setting on the fridge because it did not seem to get cold enough. Then it would too cold and we'd adjust it back down. That happened a few times over the past month.
Reading the forum it seems it could be the relay, but I don't know what part to get and the part number of 105.58587892 seems to come up with microwaves and a range.
Thanks for any help with troubleshooting.

Try to replace the start device for the compressor. - The start device Part number: AP3083556
Gene. P.S. The correct model number has 106 prefix.

Mike,
I did not get clear why I have to confirm the part number I posted? It came up according to the model number you posted.

Gene. Hi Gene, I ordered up the restart kit on Wed, received Fri and installed on the weekend just past. It worked first time. The fridge is up and running great! Thank you so much, you have saved us a small fortune. While I was cleaning the parts on the bottom of the fridge I noticed a water leak coming from the inside end of of the filter housing. Its where some long plastic pipes, two of them, enter the back of the housing. There are two little plastic grommets around each tube and these then seat within the housing. I didn't take it apart because the water filter would not come out. Now the part is back on the fridge frame I can remove the filter. I was wondering, is there a fix for this leak, maybe new grommets or will it require a new filter housing. thanks mike

You are welcome Mike. I'm glad you were able to fix this problem. Regarding the water leak - it has to be fixed ASAP. A small leak always turns into a larger. Looks like you have to replace the filter housing. Use a sharp knife to cut off the tubes connected to the old housing. Just push then into the new housing fittings. Do not forget to shut off the water to the refrigerator. - The filter housing Part number: AP3085317
