My dryer doesn't seem to get hot enough to dry; usually takes two cycles to dry most items. I recently replaced the timer, but I was wondering if the fabric selector switch would cause the heat to be inaccurate? I have measured the heating element, both for continuity and resistance and both values were okay.
Thanks.

First thing to check would be the vent system.
Unplug the unit and disconnect it from the vent system. Now try a run. If it now dries OK odds are the vent system needs checking/cleaning. Be sure to check that the louvers on the outside of the house open correctly.
If you do not want any lint in the house. Take a pair of pantyhose. Put one leg into the other and then attach this to the dryer's vent. Leave enough room so the pantyhose can balloon out like a windsock.
Both the above will let you check the temperature and the air flow.
If a gas unit do not do the above. |

Vent system is okay; I clean the vent piping 2 times a year. Vent pipe lenth is about 15 - 18 feet. Louver works without problem. I have never cleaned the vent pipe INSIDE the dryer, just the front screen area. Could that be the culprit?
