I just purchased a used washer that owner stated worked well. After moving it to my home (took down stairs) the washer will fill up and then nothing happens. It will not agitate nor spin out. I believe it may be the lid switch but unsure how to check it.

your particular model has an out of balance switch or "check" switch, when moved the actuater arm is knocked out of place and the unit will not spin or drain. To access remove the 2 phillips screws at bottom of front panel and tilt the bottom out until the top of the front panel disengages from the washer top, then you will remove the 2 3/8" screws just under the washer top with those removed the top will tilt backwards and you will see a greenish/gray rod at back of top in middle, set the rod back into position over the switch inside the console
