Hi,
I have an older Kenmore gas dryer. It does not seem to be heating as much as it should. It takes 2 to 3 45 min rounds to dry clothes. I have replaced the vent hose cleaned the lint trap out and the inside of the dryer front and back. Still same problem. Please help!!!

Have you cleaned the vent inside the wall all the way to the outlet?

yes it goes straight out my basement window. I have cleaned out all the lint in the dryer. Then lint trap, the front the back and replaced the vent hose. There is no lint issue here.

Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer, and using a meat thermometer, measure the highest temperature inside the dryer vent during the cycle. Do it for all possible temperature settings. Post the results and the complete model number of the dryer.

Probably 10 minutes to 15 minutes for each setting.

I hope you don't mind if I jump in on this one. My post is Must cycle multiple times to get clothes dry . This is exactly the same problem I am having with a 5 yr old Kenmore. I did the meat thermometer check. It would get as high as ~140 F then the gas would shut off. The temp would get below 120F (lowest temp on my thermometer), gas would come back on. The temp would reach 140F then the gas would shut off. I let it cycle like this a couple of times. The setting was on Normal, timed dry. My serial number is 110.73942101 . Cotton High - ~150F, 1 cycle then shut down. Have to reset timer to restart Normal Med High - 140F, multiple cycles. Perm Press Med - 122F, Multiple cycles. Ultra Delicate Xtra-Low - ~110F Multiple cycles. (Thermometers scale starts at 120F, had to interpolate).

Windemere166, Did you run a full load with the vent hose disconnected from the dryer? If you did what was the result? If you did not then do it once and post the result. The result for the "Cotton High" setting leads to suspicion of failure with the gas valve coils. Gene.

The dryer was empty when I ran this test. I will repeat the test today with a full load. Thank you.
