Kitchaide dishwasher is not starting when pressing the start button. Keypad lights for "Normal" , "High Temp Scrub" and "Cancel" are continuing to flash non-stop, pressing any other buttons does not clear it. Tried the diagnostic sequence and does not respond, lights just keep flashing. I imagine it is the control panel which is likely the cuplrit, does that sound correct, and what would be the part number ? would cleaning the ribbon be worth a try as well ?
Thanks! j-

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KUDK03FTBL2 UNDERCOUNTER DISHWASHER | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a tech sheet but it is for a KUDK03ITWH0, hopefully it is the same as yours. http://forum.appliancepartspros...washer-repair-kudk03.pdfIt shows High Temp : Start/Resume and Normal all use connection P1-4. I would try cleaning the connectors first. Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. If that does nothing check the keys using a meter. If they are no good replace the control panel. If they are good replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better. |

Hi Denman,
thanks for the response, i went through and cleaned the contacts for both ribbon cable and the other connectors to the board (the ones for each of the keys) , i admit things looked a bit dirty on some of them, i threw power back on and the High heat button was blinking, i tried the diagnostic sequence, and it cleared everything, no blinking lights this time, then hit the Normal wash, and start and things worked fine, dishwasher is running! , now my question is , based on what i saw in the circuit board, there was probably a short in the board caused by a nasty connector, based on the activities i just went through do you think it is almost definitely the board (thats what i think now for sure), just in case this happens again so i know what to swap out.

Odds are you will not have problems in the future though it may get dirty again.
I cannot say what was the cause/result, if cleaning does not fix it down the road then you will have to check the keypad to determine the most likely cause. |
