When reinstalling the griddle knob after cleaning the griddle infinite shaft spring let go. The shaft no longer stays in position to accept the knob. How do I remove and replace the griddle infinite switch? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The entire stovetop has to be dismantled in order to gain access to the infinite switch. After power is disconnected the stovetop can be supported high enough above the counter line by sliding thin wood strips across the front and back corners. The gas supply does not need to be disconnected but should be shut off at the local valve. If you take the time to carefully clean and scour all the parts, it takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete the job. Just replacing the switch will take between 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
