My refrigerator and freezer were not cooling. I replaced the defrost timer and am not sure if that was the problem since now the refrigerator seems to cool but the freezer gets cold than warm. I removed the case to the relay connected to the compressor and in that case is a round plastic part that is wired in series with the top pin of the compressor and 120V. The schematic on the frig. seems to indicate it might be a coil connected to “m” on the compressor. Anyway, the wire from the 120V source to this part was not connected. The terminal on this part is rather small and I might have difficultly soldering this larger type wire to it. Also, the part itself may be bad.

So, my question. I was thinking about ordering this part, but I can’t identify what it is. The information on the part is Gardette with the numbers 3ARG114 and 518842. Would someone know what this part is and where I could purchase it?

Cannot find any info using the given Model Number

Perhaps your best bet is to take the part to a local appliance parts supply store and see if they can give you a replacement.

Note: Mark where the wires go before removing it.

Thanks for the return. Doubt it makes any difference, but the model number in the post was from the refrigerator brochure and the number on the nameplate is EST15PMARO. Anyway, I think I'll try reconnecting the wire first and then take it from there.

Added information. I'm attempting to connect the wire. A closer look at the part seems to give me a number of 3ARG1L4. Now what I noticed is this circular case has what looks like metal strips inside its housing. This open housing mounts flush against the compressor's case. What I am thinking is this part may be a heat sensitive device that might open when the compressor gets too hot.
