I purchased my Kenmore Elite dishwasher 8 years ago, in part because Consumer Reports magazine listed it as one of the quietest dishwashers on the market.

It's a stainless Steel tub model and still runs and cleans perfectly.

However, in the last few month's, it's getting louder every week. There's nothing stuck in the grinder, it's just the pump and motor noises are louder.

I see I can replace the entire sump & motor assembly (Kenmore part # 8268422) for about $180. Seems like a good investment if it reduces the noise back to ultra quiet as when new.

Anyone else try this and get good results?

Well,
I answered my own post. Replacing the sump & motor assembly resulted in the brand-new ultra quiet operation I used to enjoy. Just like having a new dishwasher again. It was a relatively easy job, too.
