Purchased and received from you last week a replacement high voltage diode for my GE Profile microwave that stopped heating. Have not yet installed it. However, I decided to test it prior to install with my digital ohmeter to compare it to the one I suspected was bad. I am not getting the reading that I am supposed to (50,000 +/-). I get a reading of infinity in either direction. Also get no reading when I set my digital ohmeter to the diode test position. Is it possible that a brand new never installed diode could be bad? Why am I getting a reading of infinity? Thanks

Your meter should have at least a 6 Volt battery in order to test such diodes.

You can find some useful information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...19868-diode-testing.html
