Hi,
My oven makes a strange "scraping"/"buzzing" noise about 15 minutes of being at about 375-F or higher. This is a new problem. To my ear, it sounds like the sound a fan makes when its rotors are scraping or the bearings are going bad. But I am perplexed because I don't know of any other fan in the unit besides the convection fan. I know it is NOT the convection fan because that fan spins quietly as soon as I close the door (before the oven is hot) and that fan stops spinning as soon as I open the oven door--while the noise I'm writing about continues...
I would like to know the source of this noise and what part might require service/replacement...
Any ideas?
Thanks, Jim

I will inspect today. Thank you! If that's the noisemaker, I'll see if I can fix it otherwise I'll order the part from this site.
Thanks again, -- Jim

Hi,
I checked that fan by removing the control panel away from the top oven, and that fan is in fact spinning, but it is 100% quiet. I took a plastic rod and stopped the fan from spinning temporarily, and that funny sound stayed the same.
After poking my head around, the sound is not coming from the top part of the top oven. If I open the LOWER oven, I hear it in there. It seems to be coming from the space between the bottom oven and the top oven. Once again, this sound appears only 15 mins or so after the top oven is turned on (the lower oven is NOT on when this sound occurs).
If I turn the oven off, this sound continues for about 15 minutes, then it goes off.
Any other ideas??? It sounds like some sort of motor...
Regards, -- Jim

I am stumped Only thing I can think of is that they have another cooling fan installed somewhere. |

I understand you're stumped, but I am still hoping for a solution.
Meanwhile, there is another issue with this oven--I will detail it in another (separate) message.
I will keep checking here for a reply...

Was helping another person today and noticed that the unit I was looking up actually did have two cooling fans. Thought of you, perhaps yours is the same. Model JTP45WD1WW |

You're a genius!
I looked again at the exploded view and there is a "center spacer" part that has a fan in it! That's why I heard the noise between the top and bottom ovens! I never thought there would be a fan THERE.
I will inspect and replace if necessary.
Thank you so much! :)
