will not spin. During drain/spin cycle, makes draining noises, supposed to spin, tumbles. Meanwhile, the timer counts down when it gets to 7 it stops. Any help would be much appreciated !

Yes the water was draining but the fast spin cycle was not working. So after doing some research on this very helpful site and calling my local repair and parts shop we decided to try replacing the door locking mechanism ( the cheapist of the three alternatives). So I ran down and picked up the part for $81.62. After a very simple swap out with my fingers crossed I'm glad to report the washer is back on line and doing well. He explaind to me that this was a common problem in front loaders and he stays well stocked with this part.
