All of a sudden in the middle of the night there was a beep and code F3 went on. I'm unable to use oven. Called a tech. he wanted 150 labor, plus microprocessor, (board) plus sensor, almost 400 US in parts, total 550.00. I figure maybe microprocessor is not the problem, only the sensor. Q. I will try to replace sensor. Question Is; Am I in right track of thought here and could I do that myself? I can install a ceilling fan!!! Q. Is f3 a code for a failed microprocessor? Figured, for that kinf of money I could replace oven even so is in good looking shape. I Leon in Florida aranala@bellsouth.net

Leon, "F3" error code for your model means "failed oven temperature sensor", but if it shown up in the day time mode then it could be a bad control board too. Do not rush with parts. You have to have an ohmmeter to test the sensor. Open the control panel and locate the oven sensor plug on the control board. Unplug it and measure the sensor resistance. It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature. If the reading is correct then the problem most likely is a bad control board. If the reading is wrong then remove the oven from the cabinet and remove the rear panel. Locate the senor plug, unplug it and measure the sensor resistance. If the reading is correct then cut off the plug and reconnect the sensor using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts. If the reading is wrong then replace the sensor, but anyway eliminate the plug. - The part number for the oven sensor is AP3130719There are two different control boards for this oven with different colors of the key panel: white or black. Besides that there is about $60 difference in price. If it does not matter for you then i would recommend to buy the black one and save $$$. - The part number for the black control board is AP3095479 - The part number for the white control board is AP3095480Here are the diagrams for the Whirlpool oven Model RB760PXBB2Gene.
