I need help with my washer. For some reason it just stopped agitating and spinning. It fills and drains fine but when it comes time to wash or spin I can hear the timer ticking but it doesn't do anything. I looked at the motor and it flashing the led once. The code implies to replace brake motor but i don't know how to do that. can someone help?

This may sound bizarre, but try the following:
1. Unplug the washer for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. 2. Open and close the lid (completely) 5 times within 12 seconds (do this within 30 seconds of plugging it back in)
This will reset the washer. If the LED blinks only once, it is indicating that the braking mechanism is not functioning, however, it may be an error. Our LED was blinking only once, and by resetting the washer we returned it to normal functioning. We even tested the braking function and found it to be working correctly.

Our GE washer wouldn't agitate or spin. I tried the "bizarre" reset - it worked! THANK YOU.
I'm known in my family as washer jinx - after 3 front loads that failed on me, I went to top load with minimal computer controls... then the simple GE failed. Maybe there's still hope :-)
