A few weeks ago my nephew went to put some stuff in the freezer when he closed the door he remembered he was to take some stuff out so he pulled the door open breaking the handle off. The freezer was sucking the air out when he opened it. Since then the freezer has not been freezing good and you no longer hear the sound of air being pulled out. The upper two shelves were icing up and two days ago it quit. Any help you can give me would be appreciated!!

Is the compressor running? You can usually hear it, you should also be able to feel it vibrating and it should be warm.
Is it cooling at all? |

Denman, The compressor runs but the unit does not get cold. After I defrosted it I left it on all night the next morning it still wasn't cold. By the way the freezer is only 8 years old.

Since the compressor is running and it is not cooling you have a sealed sytem problem. This will be an expensive repair as you need a pro. Could be a bad compressor or a freon leak which is more likely.. Usually it makes more sense to invest those dollars into a new unit. Here is the operators manual, looks like the compressor has a 10 year warranty but the rest of the sealed system only 5. http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p.../StCloud/216802800en.pdf |
