The upper element stays on unless I cut the power.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

there is most likely the relay being stuck on your control board. you need to replace the control board. this is a pretty easy fix. the part # is 8523665 tom [url=]applianceeducator.com - parts[/url]

I have had the same thing happen about once a year for 4 or 5 years now. Someplace on the Net, that I cannot find again now, I came across a temporary fix that has worked for me.
Unplug the oven or turn off the circuit breaker and let it cool overnight.
When you plug it back in again, the broiler will turn on. That's the problem.
Turn on the CLEAN cycle and give it just a minute or two to warm up.
Then pull the plug or switch the circuit breaker.
Give it a little while to cool down again and then plug it back in.
At this point, with luck, you've gotten the relay to reset and the broiler won't come back on --- until the next time it overheats due to lots of broiling or baking.
At least, that's how it worked for me yesterday. Your mileage may vary. This is not a permanent fix and I'm not a pro.
