I am in the process of replacing the door seal on an older model Kelvinator dishwasher(20yrs old or so) and was wondering if it is common for there to be about a 5" gap between where the 2 ends meet at the bottom of the door? I am not getting a clear enough picture on the parts diagram. Is it supposed to have a gap that far and if so, why wouldn't water leak out of the bottom? Or, should the 2 ends meet together to get a tight seal? Thanks in advance for any input, Bert

Ends of the door gasket should not meet together. It suppose to be a gap between ends. One of the most common cause for the water leak through the door is the loose door latch. Try to adjust it to have the door close more tight before replacing the door gasket. - Here are the break down diagrams for the Kelvinator dishwasher Model DWU2005DR1Gene.

I have already received the new door seal and installed. Helped a little, but water still sometimes comes out of the bottom of the door. Since I put the new seal the door is much tighter/harder to close/latch. What else can be causing this leak and how do I make the adjustment? Thanks for any help, Bert

Check for a suds inside the dishwasher at the time when it's leaking.

There are no suds inside when it's leaking. How can door adjustments be made? Do the springs need to be replaced? Thanks
