Dishwasher wont drain. It had yucky nasty stuff in it so i vaccumed out the bottom and cleaned it out. In the process i broke the lower arm base. I replaced that and when i put it back into service it wont drain at all. I removed the motor to make sure the drain solenoid is opening (it has the flapper type) and it is free to move and i can see it working because the plunger on the solenoid goes down and the water quits spraying up into the dishwasher. I have checked the drain hose and there is nothing obsructing it either. I have removed the drain hose and tried to drain it into a bucket but it just doesnt drain. Help Help Help.

No I removed it and tried to drain it into bucket and it still wont drain. So I pulled off the drain hose and the water just poured out the bottom. It like the drain is open but there is no pressure to pushit out. But when its in wash mode it is really pushing the water so I am confused because its the same motor doing the work.

I cannot find info on this unit so am assuming it is a standard single pump GE model with the old style motor.

Remove the kick plate.
Does the drain/wash solenoid activate when in a drain mode.
Solenioif should be on the front, lefthand side of the pump.
The way it works is that the timer sends power to the solenoid at the start of a drain cycle. The solenoid plunger is pulled down, this puts the wash/drain flapper valve in the pump into the drain position. The water pressure than hold it in the drain position till the unit is empty then the springs pull the solenoid plunger (flapper) back to the wash position.

Yes the drain solenoid is working and i even removed the motor to make sure the flapper was not obstructed and was working properly. The drain solenoid is working but it is not pressurizing.

The drain is not sealing properly or the the impellor on the pump is broken and it has no pressure. Any thought? Please help I have been messing with this too long.

If there is a pump/seal kit for this model I would consider install it or replace the pump.

I did find some info on it at the Sears parts site.
I have never seen this type of GE pump so am doing some guessing.

OK so if the flapper is operating OK and it washes OK then the problem is elsewhere.

Attached is the pump diagram I found.
Perhaps it has something to do with Item 510 Chamber Coil and Item 454 Filter Ball.
Other GE units use a piston and nut assembly at the back of the unit. I do know that if that device leaks you will not get proper draining. Perhaps the above parts are doing something similar in this unit as it does not have a piston and nut.

Another possibility may be the flapper. Many of them have a hole in the center that is plugged with a rubber stop. Perhaps that is missing.

Sorry I could not be more helpful!!
