My dryer was making a hellish noise and shutting off. My wife insisted the belt was broke, so I replaced it and put the thing back together. To my delight it worked, so I loaded it with clothe and it ran fine, for about ten seconds. It made a clicking noise and shut off thencame on by itself 30 seconds later. It even came on by itself after the on/off dial was turned to off. I thought maybe when i flipped the top up some connections got loose so i removed the back and looked at the wiring it was ok put the back on and started it. it ran ok so i stopped it and put towels in it made a squealing grinding noise and stopped on its own. Do I need an exorcism performed, or can I figure this out with your help?

Father, is replacing the motor worth it, the dam dryer is only about five years old, and we have had a lot of good times on it. It does get a lot of use with five messy kids but its like a super capacity heavy duty, etc. how much does a motor cost and can a simple sheep farmer like myself do such a thing. amen

sometimes, a motor goes out because the vent to the outside is partially blocked, or the vent hose in the back of the dryer is kinked, causing the air not to exit the dryer properly, therefore overheating the conponents. or, it just went out. tom applianceeducator.com - parts
