Washer will fill but will not agitate, spin or drain. Washer makes noise when trying to spin as if a problem with the gears.

try putting in spin ...forget about the noise ..is it draining the water? if its draining its probably the coupler,if its not draining,it could be something in the pump. let us know if you need further help

This sounds exactly like what has happened to my Kenmore 80 series, and I replaced the pump, tub fills, still won't agitate, spin or drain. And makes a clacking noise in all cycles when you turn it on. I pulled it apart again, and the coupler is broken. So I'm going to try to replace it tomorrow. Hopefully that will do the trick because I have laundry backed up to my den.

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
Does the motor make a loud hum, then click off? If so. remove the outer cabinet and pull the motor out, short the lid switch and see if the motor will run.

Fingers crossed, it wasn't the motor. I just finished replacing the couplling and the washer works. I'm washing a load as I type this (20 more to go).

Had the same problem with my 80 Series Heavy Duty. Problem was the coupler $20 fix. Fixed it from the bottom of washer.
