Hello, I have a hotpoint oven, model # RGB744GEV2WH. I sometimes am able to turn it on easily, and sometimes I need a match to ignite it. When I lift the burners, so that the stick sort of thing that is attached to the oven is showing, and I clean off that part, the range starts to work for a while, but after a while, I have to go back to using matches. Is there something I can fix or replace to avoid this problem?

if you are talking about the oven part you need to replace the oven ignitor coil, it is not glowing bright enough to send power back to the gas valve to open it. the part # is wb13k04 tom [url=]applianceeducator.com - parts[/url]

I would try to replace the orifice spud, but I wonder if the spark is strong enough. Some times the spark module loses power, and you have to replace it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

How can I check if the spark is strong enough- does it help that often the burner does work, or can the clicking I hear when it does not work indicate anything about the spark module? Also, am I able to replace the orfice spud myself, or does it have to be professionally installed?

If I remember right the orfice spud will unscrew out. On the spark ignitor, I have been doing this for a long time, I could just tell, that the spark is soft, instead of the normal hard snap it makes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
