:mad::mad:the main switch turns freely and dryer won`t start. how do I remove and replace knob and timer switch (rotery switch) ?

Here is your parts breakdown, look at section 2
Model DDG7980SBLWW

Knobs look like they are just the push on type.
Just may be extra tight
It does sound like you will need to order a new rotary switch

Ignore the above, looks like Kayakcrzy knows the knobs better than me.
