I have an Amana dishwasher, ADB1500AWS3 and the "Start" button doesn't start the dishwasher, but it lights up dim when I push it.
Also the "heated dry" and "normal wash" buttons light dim (along with the dim "start" light) when I push Start. All of the other buttons work, except for the heated dry.
I found at least a few people with the same exact issue (those three lights light up dim when pushing start), but there were no definitive answers.
I have tried reseting the breakers, I also checked out the power cables under the dishwasher which seemed to be connected fine. I also opened up the dishwasher and remove and reinserted the ribbon cable from the control board.
Any ideas?

I just tried changing the control board, and it's still having the same issue, so my next step is to try changing the control panel. Wish someone would give some sort of an answer, ordering and returning parts takes time and is expensive.

See the attachment for the tech sheet. The usual way to troubleshoot this type of problem is to check the keypad with a meter. If it checks out OK then replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better. Problem is they do not publish the schematic for the keypad so you cannot check the LED circuitry. You may also want to unplug the sensor/thermistor as a problem here could drop the required voltage on the control board and give weird problems. |

Changing the control panel (not the control board) fixed the problem. It was easy for me to do, I think just about anyone could do it, just remember to turn off the power breaker to your washer first. So for any of you that are having problem that the Start/Cancel, and Heated Washe button doesn't work and shows really dim lights when you press them, well consider changing the control panel. Sears Parts online had the part for much less than everywhere else I looked. Good luck.

Same here, I have hard water and noticed corrosion at the tips of the data bus, so I ordered a control panel as the data bus come along with it... I'll let you know if it works or not should be in on Nov 10th, can't wait to not have to wash the dishes by hand
