Sears Kenmore Model 106.8241511 upright freezer has a power miser box on the inside rear panel of the freezer. It has two switch positions: ON-reduces exterior moisture; Off-saves energy I do not have an exterior moisture problem, but I do have excessive frost build-up on the interior of the freezer. The freezer is able to maintain a cold temperature. 1) Which position should the power miser switch be in do minimize frost build-up? 2) How do you determine if the power miser unit needs to be replaced?

Well a quick glance at the owner's manual will answer your questions... Your model freezer is not a 'frost free' one... The frost buildup in your freezer is perfectly normal and requires you to manually defrost it from time to time depending on how many times the door is opened... Just remove the product from the shelves and have a box fan blow into the freezer for a few minutes or use a hair dryer.... Just no sharp instruments to remove the ice from the shelving... The power miser is just a switch that provides power to a small cable-type heater built into the doorway frame... In high humid conditions moisture and ice can collect around the door and even freeze the door gasket to the cabinet... If the freezer is used in a dry environment you can switch this heater off to minimize power usage... Good luck, kooler

My refrigerator is not defrost (Whirlpool). I replaced Bi-metal defrost, heater and electronic control box but these did not solve. Anything I need to do?
