The first thing I need to do, is select a type of cycle before I turn the start switch. When I do this the dryer makes a electrical humming sound. The motor spins free when tub is off. I can't tell exactly where the humming sound is coming from because it seems to echo in the unit when i try to listen. Is it the Motor or what else???????

Sounds like the motor is weak causing it not to run with a load, I would probably just change it out. Part #Part Details - GE MOTOR KIT, part number: WE17X10010

Libbertyappl,
When you say week that it won't run under a load ...........do you mean an electrical load or a laundry load?? It acts up when empty.

I mean from the load of pulling the belt to turn the drum. Loaded or unloaded.
