my dryer will start but after about 5 minutes it turns off. when I push the start button it makes a sound like an almost dead car battery. If I keep pushing the button the sound will eventually become a click noise and then it won't make any noise. If I wait a half hour or so the dryer will start again. After it shuts off the motor feels warmish. Also when it first starts up, the belt squeeks but the noise goes away in about 15 seconds. I've cleaned the vent tubes, the drum turns...where do I start in my attempt to fix this and evaluate the issue? thanks. karen

The motor is your problem. The squeak could be coming from the motor. Or, it could be coming from the drum rollers. They actually have a kit that comes with the 3 drum rollers the idler pully and the belt. It is a good dryer, and is worth repairing. The motor, part # is 279827, and the drum roller kit part # is 4392065. Tom

thank you so much for your help. I 've always felt it was a good appliance so I am happy to fix rather than replace (not to mention I don't really have the funds to replace). I really appreciate the experts available through this site. thanks again.:D

me again. I think I'm making this harder than it needs to be but what all needs to come off to get the stink'in motor out? I found the clips and removed them and also took the bracket off that held the arm that the belt goes around. Still can't get the motor out. I thought about taking off the back but that seems to involve taking off a lot of other things. Is that the direction I need to go? any step by step would be greatly appreciated... as always, thanks. karen
