My Fridge went down about a week ago, I found the condensor fan motor bad, the local tech said I could go ahead and replace it with the old metal style motor and new fan blade. unit is working better but freezer only gets to 28 and fridge gets to 37. I am a A/C tech so I know a little about the system , I am concerned since I did not go OEM on the fan motor and blade could that be the problem? Could the defrost stat be bad? Or did the compressor get damaged valves from running to hot? I hate to buy a new fridge for a simple repair.

Is the compressor cycling or is it on continuously?
What do the evaporator coils look like?
Since you are getting some cooling I would think they will have frost on them. But is it even or just in one area usually where the freon enters the coils.
