Opened the freezer to find frozen water over the icemaker and the water inlet area. Put the hair dryer on it and melted it away. Turned the icemaker back on and ran through 2 cycles and stopped. Green light not flashing. Checked the trays and no water was in the trays. The water inlet hose appears patent.
The water dispenser does work fine though.

The first failure suspect is the water inlet valve (#800 on the break down diagram). You can check the solenoid resistance (about 180 Ohms) but even if the reading is good it could be stuck in close position. There is a small chance for the control board to be bad too. I would recommend to replace the water inlet valve first. - The part number for the water valve is AP3192626 Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model PSS27SGNABSGene.

Gene, thank you for the reply. I replaced the water inlet valve. The ice cube maker "comb" spun around twice and green light flashed on and off. I turned the ice maker off and turned it back on and it started to spin around again. No water came in through the fill hose into the icemaker.

What is going with the green LED on the ice maker? If it's blinking then the ice maker is bad.
Gene.

Thank you Gene. It flashed on and off after the "comb" spun around twice. No water had come out of the inlet hose though. I turned off the icemaker and turned it back on. Now the "comb" is not even moving, the light is not blinking.

The ice maker behavior is very suspicious. - The part number for the new (redesigned) ice maker is AP4345120 Gene.
