I have a side by side Kenmore fridgerator that is not keeping cold/freezing. I was told it was the controler (AP4362602 (240596704) CONTROL ). Is there any thing special to replace this part other than following typical electrical protocal?? unplugging device, getting rid of static, etc.

If this isn't the issue, does anyone have any ideas?

Who told you to replace this part? What is the complete model number of the refrigerator? Can you be more specific on the problem?

we had a sears repair person... didn't really trust anything he said.

Kenmore Elite side by side

model # 253-44383409

the temp shown on the display isn't the true temp, gets warm & thaws the freezer... but will eventually get cold again... can hear the compressor go & the circulation fan in the freezer.

Any ideas would be extremely helpful.

thanks.

This model has three or four control boards and a variable speed compressor with an inverter. It makes the troubleshooting procedure not very simple without a technical documentations and special tools.

Unfortunately you do not have much choice and have to call a certified and experienced technician.

Gene,

Our refridge has decided to start working normally again & the repair person showed up today. Since the fridge was functioning properly the tech said he wasn't able to test or repair it. He said if it happens again, they will come back to the house within 24 hours. He seems to think it was part of the auto defrost system... is this sound right to you? The fact that the fridge started working fine again.. i am still not that confidenant that this is going tohappen again & we'll loose more food. Any advice that you might have to ge this troubleshot & repaired once & for all.

thanks.

Keep use it and, if it'll start to malfunctioning again, call this guy. There is no other way.
