JOHN: I have a whirlpool washer M#lsc8244dq0. When I remove the motor it spins freely. Reinstalled it just hums and sometimes runs the spin cycle. Now it just hums in all cycles. would this be the gear box? I can manually turn the gear box with my fingers on the plastic cog. Any suggestions?

Doesn't sound like the transmission. It could be the motor will not perform under a load, or the capacitor, but a failed capacitor is very unusual.
