My freezer is cold, the fridge is not. The coils do not appear to be frozen-up, so I think the fan is not running.

I took out the back panel, checked for frost (none), then plugged in the fridge. The coils get cold rapidly, but after a few minutes the fan never came on, and the frame around the freezer got very hot. So I unplugged it.

I think there are 4 possible parts that could be bad:

1. Defrost Bi-metal (does this control the fan?)
2. Fan Motor
3. Adaptive Defrost Control (PCB) (does this control the fan?)
4. Thermostat Assembly

I would like to replace the 2 most likely "bad" parts to try and fix my refrigerator.

What do you think?

Hello. One statement you made gave the problem away. The frame around the freezer got very hot. This is the indication that your condenser fan is not running or the coils are stopped up with lint. Check your coils and the condenser fan motor (by the compressor). If the coils are stopped up with lint and dust, this can cause premature failure of the condenser fan motor. Hope this helped and have a great day!
