I have an old GE oven with a pilot light. The pilot even gets bigger when the oven thermostat is turned on, but no gas seems to come out of the burner to light the oven? All stove burners work fine and the pilot for the oven stays lit. I hate to put much $$ into it , but we haven't the funds for a new range/oven right now. My poor wife has been without an oven for 6 months already. If you have ideas please include part #s and the best place to buy.

Hi stallters The first thing I would check is the position of the safety valve sensing bulb. It suppose to be in the pilot flame at the time when the flame extended in response or oven thermostat. The gas to the burner should open after the sensing bulb heats up. Normally it takes 60 to 90 seconds. If there is nothing wrong with the sensing bulb position then the safety valve has to be replaced. - The part number for the safety valve AP2022751 The safety valve The best price for the part is $92.53 Good luck. Gene.
