Hi. After the main utility pole in my neighborhood was struck by lightening:eek: the control panel on my Whirlpool double oven - Model # RBD245PDB14 wouldn't work. The oven light does go on, but the digital display seems to be dead. It doesn't show anything.
I tried turning off the circuit breaker, waiting, then turning it back on, hoping it would reset itself. Didn't work.
It does beep when I try to various buttons on the control panel. I get 2 long beeps and then three short beeps, which doesn't seem to be one of the options mentioned in the Use and Care Guide. But no lights, numbers or anything else visual appear on the digital panel.
So, could this be a fuse? (Cheap part!) If so, where would I find the fuse on the oven? The schematic on your website shows the part, but not where it goes or how to get to it.
Or, could this be a fried thermal overload part? (Also relatively cheap!) Again, where is it and how do I get to it?
Or, could I need a new control board? I was referred by one of the folks running your chat to Core Centric, and they will fix the board if I send it to them. BUT - I can't figure out how to get at the board. I unscrewed the only four screws that seemed relevant, and tried to open the control area, but failed. Any guidance here?
Many thanks!

I have the same oven and the same problem. Replaced the fuse and still no readout. I wonder if it is the thermal overload? Maybe it's the board. Hope someone has some insight on this.

You get to the fuse by opening the back of the oven and removing the shielding behind the bottom oven. The thermal overload is behind the top shielding.

Many thanks for the response. If you try the thermal overload please let me know if that works. I've resigned myself to cooking on the range and in the microwave and crockpot until I can get some guidance here. But, I really will need the ovens for Thanksgiving! SCK

Update: About an hour after I replaced the fuse the display came back on. I even cooked something in it! I read something about how they may come on for awhile then shut off again so I will monitor it for a few days. If it goes south I'll let you know.

If you have time, I'd love to hear back if the fuse continues to do the trick. I think I can actually manage replacing the fuse myself. Hurray!

Ok, I finally got the control board. I installed it and it did not match my touchpad ribbon. After emailing tech support they finally figured out that Whirlpool mapped the incorrect clock control. Then discontinued the product. They suggest rebuild. The number is 1-800-442-9991, option 1 then option 4. I may just buy a new oven. Good luck to you! I'm sorry for the bad news.

I mean, what company sent you a control board that didn’t match your touchpad ribbon? Whirlpool? Another company? I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “mapped the incorrect clock control. Then discontinued the product.” I mean, did Whirlpool, or the company you ordered the control board from, have this so mixed up that they sent you a part doesn’t match your oven’s electrical system? And they don’t even still make/sell the part that actually would fix it? What would it involve to “rebuild”? I’m sorry for all the many questions, and even sorrier you’ve worked so hard and still can’t bake a turkey, or anything else. I appreciate your keeping me in the loop of this frustrating effort. SCK
