I've Gone Thru About 250 Posts And Although Similar Ours Varies Slightly. The Electric Dryer Heats When It Is First Turned On. Then About 5 Minutes Or So It Cools Down And No Longer Heats. I Have Cleaned The Vent FROM End To End. Whats Next?

I would recommend to check the blower wheel and replace the cycling thermostat. If you need the correct part number for the cycling thermostat, post the serial number. Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag dryer Model SDE3606AYWGene.

Here is the tech sheet, the wiring diagrams are a little better than in the parts breakdown http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16023127.pdfAnother possibility would be the heating element. Remove it and visually inspect it. Could have a break that opens once the element heats up and then remakes when it cools down. Unlikely but a possibility. |

Everything checks OK. Should I replace the cycling thermostat even if it check fine? On the base of the cycling thermostat are a black and white wire coming off of 2 terminals. should there be continuity between those 2 as well? No continuity between them now. The serial number of the dryer is 10742217CN. markings on the CT are 208700 T-O-D 60T13 part no 503979 0320RSPC L153-15F THANKS HANK

You probably checked the cycling thermostat for continuity and this test does not prove that the thermostat is reading temperature properly. Thats why I would recommend to replace it. The part under this thermostat is a thermostat heater which works when you set a lower temperature. It is a good idea to replace them together. - The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP95869 - The part number for the thermostat heater is AP95868 Did you check the heating element as recommended by denman? Gene.
