During the third wash cycle, water pours from the interior of the door, in front of the gasket which holds the insulating panel in place. Is there a possibility it may be leaking through the steam vent at the top of the door?

Yes there is a such possibility if the vent is clogged with a hard water deposits. Also I would recommend to check if there are suds inside the dishwasher at the time when it's leaking. Just open the door and look inside.

No suds in dishwasher, and clogged vent had been cleaned previously. I feel the vent has been eliminated as causing the problem.

The water appears to be coming up from the water resevoir, rising along the door, then falling and splashing through the bottom of the door.

Further suggestions will be most welcome....

Remove the inner door panel and check the dispenser lid latch for a leak through - very common.
