I have an old Jenn Air cooktop that was probably new when the house was built (mid 70's). One of the big burners won't do anything but high and now the middle one seems to be intermittent. Doesn't seem to be the elements themselves as a swap produces the same behavior so I was thinking of replacing the control switches.

Can't find a model number. Looked everywhere - bottom of the cooktop, inside the blower, in the holes where the cartridges go - nothing. There is a tag on the blower that does not list a model number but does say that you should only use cart's 888946, 887847, and 88264. The carts installed list 88264 and 800134 on them.

Any help identifying what might be the issue - if not a control switch as well as a model number or part number for the switch would be greatly appreciated.

I also have about the same type of stove Jenn Air Model 8891
The Burner are model 88264 which says to only use on a model 3350 stove.
I removed the burner insert took the the insert apart (about six screws around the side of the insert, removed the burners and unscrewed the clips holding the burners in place.
When I opened up the insert I found the electrical insulators that the burners plug into were menting away. Hot wires were exposed adjacent to the clip that holds the connector to the top of the burner.
I'm surprised there hasn't been several house fires or electricutions with this problem.
On this Jenn Air I found the two front burner ( two units ) both of the insulators melted to different degrees.
Would be interested in knowing more as I am filing a complaint with the U/L people about this problem within the week.

I found the model number on the face of the lower left hand side of the oven (open the door first).

Does anyone know anyone who's interested in selling a working 6 inch burner element for a model S160 Jenn-Air?

Thanks!

Tierney
