Top oven does not get to temp. When you set it it shows that it goes to temperature, but It does not get there. You can cancel the preheat and when you turn it back on it shows what temp. it got to and then it won't heat up any more. Broiler works fine. Any suggestions.

Hi Jeffrey
What is the highest temperature the oven heats up? Did the bake (bottom) heat element get red during the cycle? What is the difference between the set temperature and the real temperature?
Gene.

This is a double oven and the bottom one is working fine. The top oven looks like it varies on how high you set the preheat. Last night it was set for 425 and it got to 330. The night before it was set for 350 and it got to 240. The funny thing is it shows that it is at temp. on the display. like I said before the broiler works on high or low. The one thing I did notice is that the top burner ususally got red when I turned it on and it hasn't been.. I just tried it and it got to the desired temp. of 375 but after waiting for a while I turned it off and turned it back on to 375 and It was at 355 so It dropped in temp...

Hi Jeff Most likely the problem with your oven is a bad control board (aka a clock). - The part number for the clock with the white overlay AP377973 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag range Model MER6549BAWGood luck. Gene.
