One final sympton. I unplugged the unit and waited for about 30 seconds. When I plugged the unit back in after a few seconds I heard a click near the compressor, but nothing else happened. I repeated the steps with the same result.

I checked the compressor and it seemed to be fine so I took the evaporator cover off and got the fan to move freely - it seemed to be sticking. After putting everything back together. The fan began to work and the unit seemd to be fine. After the freezer and refrig cooled I turned on the ice maker and it worked. Thanks for all the assistance in this.
